Who we are

Gasy Animal Aid is a Malagasy non-profit that rescues, cares for and rehomes street animals. We speak up for animals.

Our history

From a Facebook page to an organisation

In 2018, several people who shared the same passion for animals met on Facebook and created a page to help them. Before long, a steady stream of messages was alerting them to dogs in distress, on roadsides and in neighbourhoods alike.

Faced with the scale of the need, the collective grew more organised. In June 2019, it was officially recognised as a non-profit organisation under the name Gasy Animal Aid.

Our missions

Protect and bring help

The organisation has set itself two missions, which guide everything we do day to day.

  • Promote the protection and rescue of animals and the fight against mistreatment, neglect and cruelty in all its forms.
  • Bring help to animals in distress, mistreated or abandoned.

This help is open to everyone: you do not need to be a member of the organisation to report an animal in danger to us.

What we do

Our work, from rescue to adoption

A shelter

We take in abandoned animals at our shelter, where they are fed, cared for and prepared for a new life.

Advice for owners

We advise and support pet owners who need it, so they can better care for their companions.

Help for families in need

We help with the feeding and care of animals belonging to families in need, so that none is left behind.

Care and neutering

Every animal receives the veterinary care its condition requires, and we neuter the shelter's residents.

Adoption

Once they have recovered, our rescues are offered for adoption to new families, to give them a lasting home.

The shelter

A home for around twenty dogs

Gasy Animal Aid runs a small shelter that is currently home to around twenty adult dogs as well as several puppies. All of them were taken in injured, sick or abandoned.

Each resident finds shelter, regular food and the care they need, for as long as it takes to recover and find a family.

Our governance

An organisation driven by its volunteers

Gasy Animal Aid is led by a president and a treasurer, supported by dedicated volunteers. Together, they carry out the rescues, run the shelter and follow up on every animal taken in.
